LAST WEEK:

IN LANGUAGE ARTS we started reading Julie of the Wolves, and you worked in groups to choose one best sentence each from pages 3, 4, and 5. We posted these best sentences on the door and talked about how  the way the author used lavish language to paint pictures in our minds.

IN SOCIAL STUDIES much of our time was spent on orientation, which means getting used to new things, such as the schedule, teachers, and classmates. The word orientation come from orient, which means “east.” The town of Orient is to the east of us, and the sun rises in the east. Since each new day starts with the sun rising in the east, it makes sense that we would call the first few days of school orientation.
